Shawna Jean- Director
Shawna is a proud married mother of four adult children, one currently playing in the Western Hockey League. She is also a proud Kookum of three beautiful grandbabies. Shawna is a First Nation member from the Swan River First Nation, located alongside Lesser Slave Lake. She was raised most of her life in Kinuso. Shawna then moved to the city of Edmonton to obtain her bachelor’s degree in education with a distinction in special education. Shawna has been an avid learner, taking the initiative to pursue many learning opportunities to improve her mindset and educate herself about the world.
She is a certified life coach, mediator, literacy specialist, certified crisis prevention interventionist, Health Safety Authority officer, and Level B Assessment certification. She is currently attending the Masters Program in Psychology to be a registered clinical psychologist with a focus on trauma. She also manages two oil and gas companies in the Wood Buffalo area.
Shawna was the recipient of the 2023 Indigenous Role Model Award: Entrepreneur Category, Regional Aboriginal Recognition Award 2020: Entrepreneur Category, Esquao Award 2019: Business Category & Aboriginal Role Model Award 2017: Business Award. Shawna has volunteered in many capacities, as her initiative is to give back. Her wish this year with the ICAA is to bring awareness and to help assist, guide, support, and, most of all, be there for ICAA membership.
